Arbitrary Arrest of Luis Manuel Otero Alcántara On His Birthday

On December 2, 2020 at about 12 noon Luis Manuel Otero Alcántara (artist/pro democracy leader) was once again arbitrarily arrested conceding with the day of his birthday, barely 24 hours after his release. If the number of politically motivated arrests were to determine the level of fear by the regime, then one might conclude that as Luis Manuel has been arrested close to 30 times in 2 years he is among the pro democracy activists the regime fears the most. Special repressive forces deployed throughout Habana suggest a dictatorship fearful of the possibility of a popular rebellion or a series of peaceful protest by a country tired of witnessing their rights being trampled. Other artists of the San Isidro Movement report they are being forced to stay home and threatened with arrest if they leave their houses.
