LUIS MANUEL OTERO AND CUBAN ARTISTS IN A HUNGER AND THIRST STRIKE
In Habana, Cuba a group of artists capture the world’s attention by showing how solidarity can inspire and galvanize a movement for freedom. In a press release posted on Facebook earlier today (Saturday, Nov 21, 2020) they demand the release of fellow activist and Cuban rapper Denis Solís, arbitrarily imprisoned and sentenced to 1 year in prison in retaliation for a public protest calling on Cubans to decide their own future.
Cuban artists are also protesting against extreme police harassment and persecution against them and call on Cubans across the island to show up (starting on Nov 22) to the central parks of each province to demand the freedom of Cuba. Human rights organizations such as Amnesty International and news outlets such as the Washington Post have already published the artists demands and show solidarity with their cause.
