PEOPLE CHANT FREEDOM AT A CARLOS VARELA CONCERT


Despite a heavy police presence, the people of Cuba chanted FREEDOM during a Carlos Varela concert held on May 29 at the Ciudad Deportiva in Havana.

That demand for FREEDOM was chanted loud and clear on July 11, 2021 during the massive protests throughout Cuba. It will be repeated once again on May 29th.

Canada and the democratic nations must listen to this demand and drastically change their foreign policy to support with concrete actions the Cuban people who ask to live in freedom and democracy.

These public and open claims ratify the awakening of the culture of rebellion in Cuba, something that we in Democratic Spaces have asserted on numerous occasions. The people of Cuba are overcoming fear despite the existence of more than 1,000 political prisoners and suffering the worst wave of repression in decades after the July 11 crackdown.
