Arrest of Maykel Osorbo

Independent journalists Esteban Rodriguez of ADN Cuba and Hector Luis Valdez of Heraldo de Cuba courageously captured the police truck where dissident artist Maykel Osorno was arrested this evening in Habana. He was arbitrarily arrested while walking on the streets wearing his face mask. It was also reported that police violently knocked down the door of Maykel’s house in the presence of a minor. This is an example of how a cell phone and a live broadcast on social media are capable of exerting pressure, raise awareness. I just got confirmation from artist Luis Manuel Otero Alcantara that Maykel had been released. The video is nevertheless valuable to show how regimes only yield to pressure not silence.
