Solidarity Between Brothers Campaign/Solidaridad entre Hermanos
Solidaridad entre Hermanos/Solidarity Between Brothers campaign.
This morning Rosa Maria Payá the leader of the Cubadecide initiative made a special announcement on her Facebook page with respect to the Solidarity Between Brothers campaign which collected a massive amount of humanitarian aid among Cuban exiles in Miami to be sent to more than 15,000 families in Cuba. The aid arrived and is sitting in the Port of Mariel in Habana.
Rosa Maria Payá said “We are very happy to announce the aid is in the island. We bring to the attention fo the General Customs of Cuba and the head of Customs Nelson Cordovés Reyes to to fulfill their legal duties and hand in the containers to the churches who are the rightful owners of the shipment to be handed among the most needed families in Cuba.¨
At a time when ordinary Cubans in the island are going through a severe economic crisis characterized by power outages, water scarcity and the exponential rise in food costs it is essential to bring to the attention of the world that containers of humanitarian aid are sitting in a cuban port to be delivered to the people of Cuba
With this announcement the Castro regime is publicly been challenged to do the right thing and allow the aid to be distributed by churches and independent civil society the the most needed people. If the regime adopts its usual Cold War policy to confiscate the aid, then they would be reaffirming their role as the main enforcers of an embargo from a government to their own people.
