Repressing Dissent: This Is How the Ministry of Culture in Cuba Remembers José Martí

In Cuba a group of young protesters of the San Isidro Movement and other independent civil society groups gathered outside the Ministry of Culture today (Jan 27 2021) to protest the arbitrary arrest of independent journalist Camila Acosta, artist Tania Bruguera and poet Katherine Bisquet.

The Minister of Culture Alpidio Alonso wore his true uniform (Culture Police) and joined Fernando Rojas (Vice Minister) in pushing protesters violently.

En Cuba una protesta frente al Ministerio de Cultura exigía la liberación de la periodista independiente Camila Acosta, la artista Tania Bruguera y la poeta Katherine Bisquet. Los manifestantes fueron blanco de violencia por parte de Alpidio Alonso, Ministerio de Cultura que junto al Vice Ministro Fernando Rojas salieron a empujar violentamente a los manifestantes mientras en la esquina habían policías dispuestos a reprimir y un grupo que iniciaba un Acto de Repudio.
